Jim has a professional career path that is both accomplished and diverse.
During his 13-year law enforcement career, Jim worked primarily in the areas of narcotic enforcement and police training. He served as the lead detective for several of the county’s largest drug seizures and was recognized as an expert witness in the area of narcotic investigation by the Superior Court of NJ.
He achieved the rank of Captain of Detectives at the age of 32 when he was promoted to Director of a NJ State Certified Police Training Academy. Jim received instructor certifications in several areas of law enforcement training include: Chemical Agent and Munitions, Physical Training, PR 24 Baton, Defensive Tactics, High and Low Ropes Course Instruction and Emergency Vehicle Operations to name a few. He was a featured speaker at several state-wide law enforcement conferences throughout the north east on the topics of narcotic investigation, high-risk warrant entry and police training.
Jim’s highly decorated police career ended abruptly in 1997 as a result of an ethical tragedy that was caused by “one bad decision” that took him outside the lines of what was right.
Subsequent to his law enforcement career, Jim has had a successful 20-year career in the private sector where he served as Vice President for companies within the publishing, student travel and baby apparel industries. He joined the Exemplary Policing Center committed to advancing the mission of supporting the policing community by providing expert insights and resources to promote professional development in the critical area of police ethics.
Jim has a BA Degree in Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer College and a MA Degree in Education from Seton Hall University.
